About Mani Mahesh Mahadev Yatra

The Manimahesh Kailash Peak, 5,653 metres (18,547 ft), also known as Chamba Kailash, which stands towering high over the Manimahesh Lake, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, the Hindu deity. It is located in the Bharmour subdivision of the Chamba district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.[3][4] It is the fifth most important peak among the group of five separate peaks in Himalayas in separate locations collectively known as the Panch Kailash or “Five Kailashas”, other being Mount Kailash in first place, Adi Kailash in second, Shikhar Kailash (Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash) in third, and Kinnaur Kailash in fourth place in terms of importance.

Tour Schedule

Day 1: Arrival at Bharmour

Arrive in Bharmour via Chamba.
Check-in at the hotel.
Evening visit to Chaurasi Temple Complex (84 Temples).
Briefing about the Yatra and overnight stay in Bharmour.

Day 2: Bharmour to Hadsar – Trek to Dhancho (7 km Trek)

Early morning departure to Hadsar by vehicle.
Start 7 km trek to Dhancho (scenic and moderate trek).
Packed lunch en route.
Evening arrival at campsite in Dhancho.
Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 3: Dhancho to Manimahesh Lake (7 km Trek)

Start trek towards Manimahesh Lake early morning.
Darshan of Manimahesh Kailash Peak and holy dip in the lake.
Explore surrounding temples and spiritual spots.
Overnight stay in tents near the lake.

Day 4: Manimahesh Lake to Dhancho

Morning prayers and last darshan at the lake.
Trek back to Dhancho.
Dinner and overnight stay in Dhancho.

Day 5: Dhancho to Hadsar – Back to Bharmour

Descend trek from Dhancho to Hadsar.
Drive back to Bharmour.
Free evening for local exploration or rest.
Overnight stay at hotel in Bharmour.

Day 6: Bharmour to Chamba – Local Sightseeing

Travel to Chamba.
Visit Laxmi Narayan Temple, Rang Mahal, and Bhuri Singh Museum.
Overnight stay in Chamba.

Day 7: Chamba to Khajjiar – The Mini Switzerland

Day excursion to Khajjiar – enjoy the serene beauty and adventure activities.
Return back to Chamba for the night stay.

Day 8: Departure from Chamba

Post breakfast, check-out and proceed to your onward destination with divine memories and blessings of Lord Shiva.

Significance of Mani Mahesh Mahadev

Manimahesh Mahadev, a sacred pilgrimage in Himachal Pradesh, is associated with Lord Shiva and is part of the Panch Kailash. Located at the base of the 18,564 ft Manimahesh Kailash Peak, it is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The peak rises above the Manimahesh Lake, where devotees take a holy dip during the Manimahesh Yatra, especially around Janmashtami.

The peak, often untouched by snow, is considered divine and unclimbable. Legends say the glimmering light seen on the peak is a jewel on Shiva’s head, giving the place its name — Manimahesh, meaning “jewel of Shiva.”
